Privacy Policy
Effective October 7, 2026
Piqelo collects no data. There is no Piqelo account, no Piqelo server, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. Your photos and videos go only to the NAS you sign in to.
Piqelo is an iPhone app made by Serian Technologies ("we"). This policy explains what the app does with your information. If you have a question, email william@seriantech.org.
Your photos and videos
Piqelo reads the photos and videos you allow it to see and copies them to the folder you choose on your own NAS. At home it connects to the NAS directly over your network. Away from home it connects through UGREENlink, UGREEN's remote access service for your NAS, over an encrypted connection. We never receive your photos or videos, and we can't see them.
Free Up Space removes items from your iPhone only after they are backed up and only after you confirm in the iOS dialog. Remove from NAS deletes only files Piqelo put on your NAS, after you confirm.
Your NAS sign-in
Your NAS username and password are stored in the iPhone Keychain, on this device only, and are sent only to your NAS. When you sign in with a UGREENlink ID, Piqelo asks UGREEN's lookup service (api.ugnas.com) where to find your NAS, which sends UGREEN your UGREENlink ID. UGREEN's own privacy policy covers that service and UGREENlink.
Search by meaning
Search by meaning is optional. When you turn it on, Piqelo downloads the search model files from Hugging Face over Wi-Fi. Like any download, the request shows Hugging Face your IP address. It carries nothing about you or your photos. After that, Piqelo indexes and searches your photos on your iPhone, and your photos and searches never leave it.
The model runs with ONNX Runtime, built into the app with its usage reporting turned off. Photo categories such as people, pets and text are made on your iPhone with Apple's Vision framework. The map in Explore uses Apple Maps, which Apple's privacy policy covers.
What stays on your iPhone
Piqelo keeps its settings, backup records and search index on your iPhone. It also saves backup records in your NAS folder so it can restore them after a reinstall. Settings > Start Over erases everything Piqelo keeps on your iPhone, Forget This NAS removes your sign-in, and Delete Search Model removes the model and index. Deleting the app removes all of it from your iPhone.
Analytics, crash reports and tracking
Piqelo contains no analytics, advertising or crash reporting code, and it does not track you across apps or websites. If you choose to share analytics with app developers in iOS Settings, Apple may send us anonymous crash reports. Apple's privacy policy covers those.
Children
Piqelo is not directed at children and collects no information from anyone.
